Camera and tracking notice in drivers' languages

A driver who cannot read the notice has not been told. One page per language that says the vehicle is tracked, has cameras and gives alerts: Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Tagalog, Arabic and English.

Free: enter your name and email and we send you the file. A Word file you can edit. Five languages are drafts that need a native-speaker review.
  • 7 language pages

Why give drivers a notice in their own language?

In many Gulf fleets the drivers read Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam or Tagalog better than Arabic or English. A notice about cameras or tracking that a driver cannot read does not tell him anything, and a safety rule he cannot read is a rule he cannot follow. Saudi Arabia's Transport General Authority has published driver guidance in Arabic, English and Urdu (2022).

What does each page say?

Every language page has the same four blocks, so a supervisor can check any page against the English one.

  • This vehicle is tracked. It says that position, speed and trips are recorded and why.
  • This vehicle has a camera. It says that video may be recorded and tells the driver to ask who can see it and for how long.
  • What an alert means. Speed, seat belt and attention alerts, and what to do. You fill in the sound or message.
  • Questions. A line for the supervisor name and contact.

How do you review the draft languages?

The five translated pages were prepared from the English text and have not been reviewed by native speakers. Do not print them as they are.

  1. Find a native speaker. Someone who knows driving and workplace words, not only the language.
  2. Read it aloud to a driver. Ask what he understood. Change any line he reads differently.
  3. Record it. Write the reviewer, the date and the changes in the review log.
Do not use an unreviewed page

A wrong word in a safety notice can do more harm than no notice. Keep the Draft mark on a page until it is approved in the review log.

Where do you place the pages?

  • Hand the right language page to each driver at induction and read it with him.
  • Keep a copy in the vehicle file and in the driver's record.
  • Fit the stickers where the driver sees them, never over the view of the road.
  • Re-issue the pages when you change the devices or the alert settings.

Limits of this file

It gives wording for notices. It is not legal advice and does not say that any law is met. It does not state what any device records, how long recordings are kept or what any alert sounds like: those depend on your devices and settings, and you write them in. It does not claim approval by any authority.

Fit the devices and the notices together

Tell us how many vehicles, which cameras and which languages your drivers read. We help you plan the devices and the notices that go with them. What each device records and which alerts it can give come from its datasheet: ask us for it.

  • Driver ID. Link each trip to a named driver, so the notice and the record match.
  • SCMS portal. See devices and events in one place.
  • Advanced configuration files. Set the same alerts on every vehicle so the table you fill in is true for all.
  • Over-the-air updates. Change a setting without a workshop visit, then update the page.
Questions

Driver notice questions, answered

Need a language that is not here? Talk to Tracom.

Which languages are included?

Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam and Tagalog (Filipino). Every page says the same thing, so you can check any page against the English one.

Are the translations reliable?

Treat the five translated pages as drafts. They were prepared from the English text and need a native speaker to review them before you print. The file has a review log for that.

Does it say how long recordings are kept?

No. The notice tells the driver to ask the supervisor, and the cover has a field for your own retention period. Set it with your legal adviser.

Can I delete the camera notice for vehicles without cameras?

Yes. It is a Word file. Delete the block in every language so the pages stay consistent.

Does it work in Google Docs?

Yes, but check the Urdu page and the three Indic pages after you open it, because fonts differ between programs. It works in Word and LibreOffice Writer as well.

What is Tracom's role here?

Tracom makes the devices. The file is a template for notice wording. It is not legal advice, it does not say that any law is met, and it does not state what any Tracom device records or sounds.
