DSM alarm-to-enforcement mapping sheet

A free Excel sheet that matches each behavior road cameras are reported to check, such as phone use, seat belts and speeding, with the DSM, ADAS or tracker alarm that can warn your driver first, its threshold and the follow-up after it.

Free: enter your name and e-mail and we send you the file. Works in Excel, Microsoft 365, Google Sheets and LibreOffice.
  • 7 behaviors mapped
  • Thresholds and voice alerts
  • No fines, alarm follow-up only

One row per behavior, one alarm per row

Six sheets: Start here, Mapping, Alarm follow-up, Alarm counts, Sources and Lists. The Mapping sheet holds seven example rows. This is how five of them read.

How it runs

From a camera-enforced behavior to a follow-up after the alarm

  1. Read the sources for your market

Each enforcement row names who reported it, the date and the confidence. Add a row with a source for any other market you run in.

    Sources
  2. Confirm the alarm on your device

From your datasheet, mark whether the camera or tracker supports the alarm and whether it is enabled. Write your threshold.

  3. Set the alarm follow-up

Decide how many alarms of one type in a period call for follow-up level 1, 2 or 3: who reviews the clips, which camera or setting to check, and when to talk with the driver.

    Follow-up
  4. Count the alarms

Enter the alarm counts per driver or vehicle from your platform report. The sheet shows the highest level and the follow-up action.

Why map road enforcement to in-cab alarms?

Road cameras in parts of the Gulf are reported to check phone use, seat belts and speed with AI. The same behaviors can raise an alarm inside your own vehicle first: a DSM camera sees the phone or the missing belt, the tracker sees the speed. Mapping one to the other shows which alarms to switch on, and where you have no warning at all.

No fines in this file

The sheet holds alarm types, thresholds and follow-up steps only. Fines change and differ by market. Check them with the authority, never from this sheet.

How coverage and the follow-up level are worked out

Coverage = Covered when the alarm is supported, enabled and has a threshold, Gap when supported but not enabled, Check the device when support is not confirmed Level for one alarm type = 3 if count ≥ level 3 count, 2 if ≥ level 2 count, 1 if ≥ level 1 count, else 0 Follow-up action = the action of the highest level, for the first alarm type that reached itExample: 9 overspeed alarms in 30 days with levels at 3, 8 and 15 gives level 2: check the camera aim and the threshold, then talk with the driver if the clips are real.
Lower threshold, more alarms

A threshold below the legal limit warns the driver earlier, but it can raise more false alarms and more noise in the cab. Track false alarms in a tuning log and adjust one setting at a time.

Limits

A device alarm does not stop a road camera from recording an offense, and it does not prove that a driver did or did not commit one. Which alarms a camera or tracker can raise depends on the model, the firmware and the configuration: the Supported column is yours to confirm. A GPS position cannot tell one lane from another, so lane rows are reminders only.

Warn the driver before the road camera does

Tracom M1N is an MDVR, and Tracom devices support driver behavior monitoring with voice alerts. Camera options such as DSM/ADAS are confirmed with the Tracom team. Which alarms and thresholds your setup offers depends on the cameras and the configuration file. Bring your mapping and we will check it against your devices.

  • ADAS and DSM alarm selector to pick alarms from the crashes your fleet has.
  • Calibration checklist to aim the DSM and ADAS cameras right.
  • False-positive tuning log to lower false alarms without losing real ones.
Questions

Alarm mapping questions, answered

Choosing alarms for your cameras? Talk to Tracom.

Does the sheet list traffic fines?

No. It holds alarm types, thresholds and follow-up steps. Fines change and differ by market, so check them with the authority.

Can a DSM camera detect a seat belt?

Some can, some cannot, and it also depends on where the camera is mounted. Some fleets use a seat-belt input wired to the tracker instead. Confirm it from your datasheet and mark the Supported column.

Should the speed alarm be below the limit?

It is a choice. A few km/h below the limit warns earlier. The example uses 5 km/h below the limit. Watch how often it sounds and adjust.

Are the enforcement rows official?

No. They come from news reports and are marked Secondary. Verify against the current official text of the authority before you rely on them.

Where do the alarm counts come from?

From your platform report for the same period, one count per alarm type per driver or vehicle. The sheet checks that the period has the length set on the follow-up sheet.

What does Tracom do beyond the template?

Tracom makes the devices and can check your mapping against a camera setup. The sheet works without any Tracom device. It does not state that any device supports a given alarm, and it does not show that your fleet meets any traffic rule.
