Immobilizer relay installation record and safe-cut acknowledgement

One record per vehicle: the cut point, the relay and fuse ratings, a fail-safe check and a safe-cut test with the vehicle standing. A second part lets the customer acknowledge the conditions. Needs legal review before use.

A neutral template, not an official form

Never cut a moving engine

The record asks for a cut only at standstill, after a warning to the driver. The test is run with the vehicle standing. Wire to the tracker manual and the vehicle wiring diagram: the template is generic and has no device pinout.

What's inside

What's inside the installation record?

One Word file. Part 1 is the record for one vehicle and Part 2 is the customer acknowledgement.

  1. 01

    Job and vehicle

Job, installer, customer, plate, system voltage and the tracker serial or IMEI.

  2. 02

    The cut point

Which circuit is cut, the wire color, where it was cut and how the wire was identified.

  3. 03

    Relay, fuse and wire

Load, contact rating, coil, tracker output from the manual, contact used, diode, fuse and wire capacity, each with its source.

  4. 04

    Fail-safe check

Eight yes or no checks, from the normally closed contact to hidden and secured wiring.

  5. 05

    Safe-cut settings and test

Your speed, standstill and warning limits, then eight tests run with the vehicle standing.

  6. 06

    Customer acknowledgement

Seven points the customer confirms, a place for who may ask for a cut, and signatures.

Your decisions

The limits are yours, not ours

What is an immobilizer installation record?

A remote cut-off is a small relay that opens one wire when a tracker says so. The installation record is the paper that shows what was cut, how it was wired, what was tested and what the customer was told. If a vehicle stops at the wrong time, it is the first document everyone asks for.

How to use the template

  1. Plan the wiring with the planner: relay, fuse, contact and the safe-cut rules.
  2. Set your limits in section 5 from your policy, after your legal review.
  3. Fill one record per vehicle while you install. Write the source of every rating.
  4. Run the test standing and tick each result. Do not test by driving.
  5. Brief the customer and get Part 2 signed.
  6. Keep the record with the job file.

Why the fail-safe check matters

If the cut wire is on the normally closed contact (87a), a tracker that loses power leaves the circuit connected, so the vehicle keeps running. On a normally open contact the same fault would cut the engine, including on the road. The check list asks for the contact used, the fuse and the wire rating, the diode and the tracker power-loss test, so a reviewer can see each answer.

The safe-cut test

The eight tests are all run with the vehicle standing, the parking brake on and the area clear. They check the warning, the cut, the restore, the fuse-pull and restart cases, the speed rule setting and the command log. The speed rule is checked in the settings, not by driving.

Use the cut-off wiring planner to size the relay and the fuse first.

The customer acknowledgement

Limits

The template is neutral. It does not claim to meet any rule or standard, it is not issued or endorsed by any authority, and it gives no pinout for any device. It is a starting point that you must adapt, review and approve.

Get the manual for the model you fit

The record asks for the tracker output type and its current limit. Both come from the manual of the model you fit. Tracom makes the trackers and the portal that manages them, and can tell you which of them has a controllable output.

  • Device manual for the output type and the current limit to write in section 3.
  • SCMS portal and OTA updates to set up and update the devices.
Questions

Installation record questions, answered

Planning a cut-off installation? Talk to Tracom.

Is this an official or approved form?

No. It is an independent, editable template. No authority issued or endorsed it, and it does not claim to meet any rule.

Is a remote cut-off legal where I work?

It depends on local law, your contracts and your insurance. Ask your legal adviser before you offer it to customers.

Why is the test done with the vehicle standing?

A cut on a moving vehicle can cause a crash. The test proves the cut and the restore without that risk, and the speed rule is checked in the settings.

Does it give the pinout of a Tracom device?

No. The template is generic. The tracker output type and limit come from your device manual and you write them in.

Can I change the wording?

Yes. It is an editable Word file. Change the company name, add your logo and let your legal adviser rewrite Part 2.

What does Tracom do here?

Tracom makes trackers and publishes this template. It does not review your records, approve your installation or advise on the law.

Next step

Plan the cut, then record it

Use the planner to size the relay and set your safe-cut rules, then fill this record for each vehicle.
