What counts as an unplanned stop?
A stop starts at the first position at or below the stop speed and ends at the first moving position after it. If it lasts at least the shortest stop to report, and its centre is outside every allowed-stop circle, it is unplanned.
What counts as a deviation?
The planned route is the line through your route points. A position farther than the corridor half-width from that line, and outside every allowed-stop circle, is off route. A run of such positions lasting the shortest deviation or longer is one deviation.
How is the trip score built?
Each trip starts at 100. Points come off for each unplanned stop, each deviation and each km driven off the route. The score is a way to sort trips for review, not a verdict on a driver.
| Trip | Unplanned stops | Deviations | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| T-101 | 1, 12 min on the route | 1, about 2 km south for 4 min | 72 |
| T-102 | 0 | 0 | 100 |
Getting a good export
- Export positions, not only events: one row every 30 to 60 seconds while moving.
- Include a speed column. Without it, speed is worked out from distance and time.
- Include a trip or plate column so each trip is scored on its own.
- Keep times in one time zone for the whole file.
Assumptions and limits
- A flag is a reason to look, not proof of theft or misconduct. Check the video, the fuel level and the driver report.
- Gaps in the data can hide a stop. Review long silences with the signal-gap tool.
- The route is a set of straight lines between your points. Add points at turns, or widen the corridor.
- Weights and bands are indicative and should be agreed with your own teams.
- The file is read and analysed in your browser. If you ask for the emailed report, your settings, and the text when it is short, are sent to our server with the request and kept for up to 45 days.
